The LIFE EcoTimberCell (ETC) project is a pilot project to validate and apply ETC structural products, thereby reducing CO2 emissions from construction, increasing the energy efficiency of housing and increasing the demand for wood from sustainable forest management.
During the month of June, the LIFE EcoTimberCell project has reached two important milestones: the project has been distinguished in the Ecodesign Contest of the National Environmental Congress and EcoTimberCell products have been supplied for a first construction site in Galicia.
From 17th to 19th June, we will be presenting the EcoTimberCell project at the XIII edition of ASTURFORESTA.
The last chapter of Block I of the webinars organised by LIFE EcoTimberCell focuses on the Promotion of wood in Galicia. This topic will occupy us the next three Wednesdays: 9th, 16th and 23rd of June.

From the LIFE ETC project we wanted to highlight the indisputable role of certified wood in mitigating climate change and its importance in low-energy construction. In this sector, wood not only acts as a carbon sink, it also reduces CO2 emissions resulting from the use of other materials.

The first webinar organised in the framework of the LIFE EcoTimberCell project will take place on 5th May. This is the first of a series of sessions that, with the help of the technical team and the collaboration of experts, will give an overview of the Galician forestry sector, of wood and its contribution to climate change mitigation and of the work being carried out within the framework of the project.
Recently ITeC held a conference addressed to the Construction Industries Commission (CIC) to present the different European projects in which it participates: HOUSEFUL, BIMzeED, LIFE EcoTimberCell, SPEEDIER, POCITYF, PLURAL and MEZeroE.

The TABLEX board manufactured by the company Betanzos HB is a hard fibre board produced from timber from sustainable and local plantations, which uses the wood's own lignin to bind the wood fibres, avoiding the use of artificial binders in its manufacture.
Last January, the LIFE EcoTimberCell team visited the company RESAI, which has offices in Lugo and Valencia, and covers from the construction of buildings and industrial warehouses, to the renovation and rehabilitation of houses, hotels or rural houses.

The "Guide to the supply and characterisation of structural timber" is a publication that provides knowledge and tools to the forestry and timber construction sector to develop the characterisation of structural timber. Due to its easy reading and abundant graphic material, it can become a very useful reference document for the Galician timber industries and their specialisation.

From LIFE EcoTimerCell we want to put in value the ecosystemic services provided by the productive forest systems in which sustainable forest management is applied.
The ETC+ cell has been developed in the framework of Action C3 of LIFE EcoTimberCell project. This is conceived as an EcoTimberCell in which the connection between the board and the wood is made by means of a woodworking fitting, avoiding the use of structural adhesives.
In LIFE EcoTimberCell we are currently working on the different business and marketing lines of the structural systems developed in the project. In order to do this, we consider it essential to know the perception of EcoTimberCell systems, as well as the possible social impact that projects such as this one can generate in mitigating climate change.
